Professional Photographer or Hobby Photographer?

Professional portrait photography is an investment. The price tag on professional portraits can leave you wondering, "Is it worth it?" Well, to be honest with you, it depends. If you are looking for a few snapshots to post on Instagram or Facebook, then go ahead and book the hobby photographer. If, however, you are looking for images that you want to cherish for a lifetime; then you want to invest in someone who takes their profession seriously. Here is what you will get with a professional:
1. Standard of Quality-
Professional photographers have access to professional printing labs that are highly calibrated to bring you the best images available. Depending on the lab, you can order everything from wallet size prints, to wall size canvases and everything in-between. Most labs have an option to have your prints and products delivered straight to your door.
2. Commitment-
A professional photographer takes his/her art seriously. They will constantly strive to improve through workshops, mentoring sessions, and editing tutorials. They learn all of the tricks, and how to light a subject well. If the photographer plans on specializing in a certain field, such as weddings, or newborns- then often they will join groups of similar photographers in a community to help each other grow and learn.
Also, since a professional wants to give you the best quality available, you will find that they see their business as an investment. They invest their time, and their money into growing and improving the services that they offer. This includes upgrading equipment (camera, flash, lenses, lighting, etc), as well as backdrops and studio props.
3. Peace of Mind-
I am a legal photography business. What does this mean? It means that I am licensed through the state of Texas as a legal business. It means that I pay taxes which go to help improve our community. It means that I am insured, so if something goes wrong with the equipment or you are somehow injured during a session, then I have the proper coverage to take care of you, and at the minimum, offer you a refund.
4. Relationship-
My clients are more than just customers. I feel as if they are part of my family. My absolute favorite part of photographing motherhood is being able to watch a family grow and see the changes through the years. I cherish your memories nearly as much as you do. When you celebrate, I celebrate with you. When you mourn, I mourn with you.
5. Memories-
It is my hope that every image you receive evokes emotion. I want your time with me to be a memorable experience, not just "getting pictures taken", but a fun time of family bonding. If there is ever anything that I can do to make this experience better for you, please let me know. You can always email me at crysdawn76@gmail.com.
